There are events in the history, about which it is heavy to speak and to write but it is impossible to forget about them, because victims of those times are demanded by memory and three Holodomors in Ukraine are really tragic pages in the history of our nation.
According to the decree of the President of Ukraine ¹ 795 “About actions in connection with the Day of memory of Holodomor victims” from the 2-nd of October 2009, National Parliamentary Library prepared a book exhibition “Destiny of died people- caution to alive”.
At a book exhibition we represent documents about the times of three Holodomors, which experienced Ukraine in time of reign of communist regime- the most violent and planned crimes in the history of our people. No other wars and eliminations of people will be equal with the scale of extirpating of the Ukrainian population that inhabited the country with the most fertile grounds.
Book exhibition became an original display of this tragic social trouble in our history, what experienced our country. Even today many people lead quarrels about the fact of Holodomor existence, but scientists have reached a consent: Holodomors were existed in Ukraine. The first- in 1921-23, which marked the formation of new powerful state; the second- in 1932-33- the most terrible and devastating but unsimply interpreted; and the third- in 1946-47, after the war, this Holodomor became unknown for a long time.
At our exhibition we present 50 documents from the funds of the National Parliamentary Library of Ukraine. If you need other publications of such theme, you can use electronic resources of the Library:
